Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are having abdominal surgery (open or laparoscopic) expected to last at least 2 hours
  • You do not have chronic lung disease requiring oxygen or a breathing machine at home
  • You have not been on a breathing machine for more than 12 hours before surgery
  • You are not pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • You have French health insurance coverage
