Who can take part
- Age 18 or older
- Scheduled for your first (primary) total hip replacement surgery
- Planning to receive standard pre-surgery antibiotic (cefazolin) as part of normal care
- No serious kidney or liver problems
- Weigh 120 kg (264 lbs) or less
- No history of severe allergic reaction to cefazolin
- No active infection in your hip joint
