  • Age 18–75 years
  • Diagnosed high blood pressure (primary hypertension) without blood pressure medications in the past 4 weeks
  • Systolic blood pressure (top number) between 140–170 mmHg when measured in a clinic
  • Able to understand and follow study procedures
  • Normal or near-normal liver, kidney, and heart function based on blood tests
  • No history of severe heart attack, stroke, or heart failure in the past 6 months
