Who can take part

  • You are 19 years old or older
  • You have been diagnosed with malignant (cancerous) distal bile duct obstruction that cannot be surgically removed
  • You have already had a percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) tube placed—a temporary external drainage tube for your bile duct
  • You are scheduled to have a metallic stent placed through your existing PTBD tube
  • You have never had a biliary metallic stent placed before
  • Your bile duct blockage is in the lower part of the bile duct, not higher up near the liver
