Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old
  • Your heart failed to recover after recent heart surgery, despite maximum medication support
  • Your heart is not pumping enough blood (low cardiac index) and fluid is backing up into your lungs
  • You have signs your body isn't getting enough oxygen (such as confusion, cold extremities, very low urine output, or high lactate levels)
  • Your blood vessels are healthy enough to allow device placement (no severe calcification or blockages)
  • You do not have certain heart valve problems, blood clots, or active infections
