Who can take part

  • Scheduled for primary (first-time) total knee replacement surgery
  • Age between 18 and 80 years old
  • Body mass index (BMI) of 35 or less
  • Good overall health (ASA score I–III, meaning no serious heart, lung, or other conditions)
  • Able to rate your pain on a simple 0–10 scale
  • No allergy to local anesthetic medicines (numbing drugs)
