Who can take part
- Your child is between 2 and 12 years old
- Your child is having elective (planned) surgery that will last less than 2 hours
- Your child is in good overall health (ASA physical status I or II)
- Your child does not have known airway problems like enlarged tonsils or cleft palate
- Your child does not have heart rhythm problems or low heart rate
- Your child is not allergic to dexmedetomidine or lidocaine
