Who can take part
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to give written consent
- If you have type 1 diabetes: you must be taking insulin and your blood sugar control (HbA1c) must be above 8%
- If you don't have diabetes: your fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides must all be normal and healthy
- You cannot have had a heart attack, stroke, or heart disease
- You cannot be taking cholesterol-lowering medications or long-term steroid medications
- You cannot be pregnant, breastfeeding, or have kidney disease or inflammatory conditions
