- You are 18 years old or older
- You have been diagnosed with an acute pulmonary embolism (a fresh blood clot in the lung) confirmed by CT scan
- You do not have a history of chronic or long-standing pulmonary embolism
- Your kidneys work well enough to safely receive contrast dye for CT imaging
- You have no known allergies to contrast dye used in CT scans
