This trial tests whether moxibustion—a traditional Chinese medicine technique using heat from burning mugwort—can help treat acute graft-versus-host disease (a complication after bone marrow transplant) that hasn't responded to steroid drugs. If you've had a stem cell transplant and developed this condition that won't go away with standard treatment, this study may be for you.

Who can take part

  • Age 14–65 and had an allogeneic stem cell or bone marrow transplant
  • Diagnosed with acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) affecting your gut, with belly pain and diarrhea, rated grade II or higher
  • Your aGVHD did not respond to steroids—either it got worse within 3 days, didn't improve within 7 days, or came back during treatment tapering
  • Blood neutrophil count ≥0.5 × 10⁹/L for at least 3 consecutive days
  • No other systemic drugs (besides steroids) used to treat aGVHD before this trial
  • Willing to use contraception if of childbearing potential; no active uncontrolled infections, HIV, hepatitis B or C, or severe heart/lung/kidney/liver disease
