Brain-Computer Interface Training After Stroke Treatment

This study tests whether a special brain-computer interface (a device that reads your brain waves to help control movement) can help improve arm and hand function after you've had an acute stroke treated with clot-removal therapy. The training happens early in recovery and may help your brain rewire itself to regain lost movement.

Who can take part

  • Age 18–80 years old
  • Had an acute ischemic stroke (blood clot in the brain) treated with clot-busting medication and/or mechanical clot removal within the eligibility window
  • Weakness or loss of movement in the arm or hand on one side of your body (the same side as your dominant hand)
  • Mild-to-moderate arm weakness on the Fugl-Meyer scale (score 10–50), showing some remaining function
  • Were independent or only mildly disabled before the stroke (modified Rankin Scale score ≤2)
  • Mentally alert enough and able to communicate well enough to complete training tasks
