- You are a woman between ages 48 and 60
- You have gone through natural menopause (stopped having periods) within the last 5 years
- Your waist circumference is 88 cm (about 35 inches) or larger
- You have not used hormone replacement therapy in the last 6 months
- You have not taken any lutein supplements before
- You are not currently taking anti-inflammatory drugs, blood sugar medications, or cholesterol medications
