Spinal Nerve Stimulation for Lower Spinal Cord Injury

Who can take part

  • You have a spinal cord injury (from trauma or another cause) that occurred more than 1 year ago
  • Your injury is below the mid-back (at or below the 10th rib level)
  • You have some preserved spinal reflexes (automatic nerve responses) at or below your injury level
  • You are not pregnant and do not have active infections, open wounds, or unhealed fractures
  • You do not have other implanted devices like pacemakers, and your spine allows for safe electrode placement
  • You are medically stable enough to participate in rehabilitation activities like changing positions and standing
