Aortic Valve Calcium Score Study Using Heart Ultrasound

This study develops and tests a new way to diagnose severe aortic stenosis (narrowing of the aortic valve) by measuring calcium buildup on the valve using heart ultrasound. If you're already getting both an ultrasound and a CT scan of your heart, this study compares how well the ultrasound method can identify severe stenosis.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • Your doctor has already ordered a standard heart ultrasound (transthoracic echocardiogram) for clinical reasons
  • Your doctor has already ordered a heart CT scan with calcium scoring for clinical reasons
  • Your ultrasound and CT scan are done within about 3 months of each other
  • You can provide written informed consent to participate
  • Your heart ultrasound and CT images are of good enough quality to be analyzed
