Who can take part
- Age 18–75 and weigh between 99–220 pounds
- Have moderate-to-severe active thyroid eye disease with specific eye measurements (swelling score of at least 3, eye bulging of at least 3 mm, or other symptoms)
- Disease started within the last 12 months
- Thyroid hormone levels relatively stable or mild imbalance; positive test for thyroid receptor antibodies
- No recent high-dose steroid treatment (within 30 days) or other immune-suppressing drugs (within 90 days)
- No serious infections, liver/kidney disease, uncontrolled diabetes, or hearing problems
