Who can take part

  • You have atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) that is not caused by a temporary reversible condition
  • You need long-term blood thinner treatment to prevent stroke and blood clots
  • You have at least one risk factor for stroke (like age 65+, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart failure, or prior stroke)
  • You do not have a mechanical heart valve or moderate-to-severe mitral stenosis (valve disease)
  • You have not had a stroke in the past 2 days or had recent heart ablation or LAA closure procedure
  • Your kidneys are working adequately (not on dialysis and eGFR ≥15)
