How Heart Valve Replacement Affects Kidney Function

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older with a life expectancy of at least 1 year
  • Your doctor's heart team has decided you are a good candidate for percutaneous aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
  • You had at least one imaging test using contrast dye in the past 2 months (other than the TAVI procedure itself)
  • You can have kidney function blood tests taken right after your TAVI procedure and at least 3 more times within 5 days
  • Your kidneys are not severely damaged (eGFR must be 30 or higher)
  • You are not currently on dialysis or scheduled to start dialysis
