Strength Training on Uninjured Side During Shoulder Injury Recovery

This study tests whether exercising your uninjured arm and shoulder while your injured shoulder heals in a sling can help you recover strength and function faster. Researchers will also use a safe brain-imaging tool to measure how your nervous system responds to this training.

Who can take part

  • Age 18–36 years old
  • Recent AC joint injury (shoulder-collarbone area) confirmed by an orthopedic surgeon
  • Currently wearing or about to wear a sling for 2–4 weeks as prescribed by your doctor
  • Able to understand the study and give written consent
  • Medical clearance from your doctor to do rehabilitation and strength training
  • No major arm or shoulder surgery or injury in the past 12 months
