Fast-Track Radiation and Chemotherapy for Esophageal Cancer

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with esophageal cancer (or cancer at the junction where the esophagus meets the stomach) that has been confirmed by biopsy
  • Your cancer has not spread to distant parts of your body, confirmed by a PET/CT scan
  • Your cancer is at a stage where combining radiation and chemotherapy with curative intent is appropriate
  • Your blood counts, kidney function, and liver function are adequate to safely receive chemotherapy and radiation
  • You have not received prior chemotherapy or radiation therapy to your chest or upper abdomen
  • You do not have an esophageal stent in place, are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have no active uncontrolled infections
