- You are a man with type 1 diabetes diagnosed at least 12 months ago
- You are between 18 and 64 years old with a healthy weight (BMI 18.5–29.9)
- Your blood sugar control is reasonably good (HbA1c of 8.5% or lower)
- You take less than 1.2 insulin units per kilogram of body weight per day
- Your insulin doses have stayed the same for at least 2 months before the study
- Your kidneys, heart, and eyes are generally healthy with no severe diabetes complications
