Who can take part
- You have idiopathic Parkinson's disease (the most common type, not caused by another condition)
- Your Parkinson's symptoms are moderate to advanced (Hoehn & Yahr stage 2.5–4) even when you're not taking medication
- Either: you've never had DBS surgery and are a good candidate for it, OR you've had bilateral DBS surgery before and respond well to it
- You can attend all study visits and complete daily diaries about your symptoms for at least 3 consecutive days
- You do not have depression, cognitive decline, or other medical conditions that would make DBS risky or unsafe
- You are not pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding during the study
