Who can take part
- Had a stroke or mini-stroke within the last 3 days caused by a neck artery tear
- MRI scan showing the neck artery tear with specific features (like a blood clot in the artery wall, narrowing, or flap)
- Able to take either blood thinners (like aspirin) or anticoagulants (like warfarin) safely
- Age 18 or older
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding (if female)
- No medical reason you already need to be on anticoagulation therapy for another condition
