Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You had a stroke within the last 14 days and doctors couldn't find the exact cause.
  • You have at least one of these: stroke in multiple areas of the brain, a previous stroke while on blood thinners, an enlarged heart chamber, heart pumping weakness, or frequent extra heartbeats.
  • You do not have a clear heart-related cause for your stroke, significant narrowing of blood vessels in the brain, or a recent bleeding event.
  • You do not have severe kidney or liver problems, active bleeding, or a history of bleeding in the brain.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have not had recent brain or spine surgery or injury.
