Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have scheduled above-knee amputation surgery
- You have serious heart disease (ejection fraction less than 40% or heart failure symptoms) or lung disease (COPD with reduced breathing capacity)
- You do not have bleeding disorders, active infections at the surgery site, or are not on blood thinners
- You have normal kidney and liver function (platelet count above 75,000 and INR below 1.5)
- You are not pregnant and do not have a history of drug misuse
