Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a planned heart bypass surgery (CABG) done through a breastbone incision.
  • You are in generally good health or have mild to moderate health issues (ASA class II or III).
  • You can understand the study and reliably report your pain level on a 0-10 scale.
  • You do not have bleeding problems, an allergy to the study medicines, or a chronic pain condition requiring daily strong painkillers.
