- You are 18 years or older
- You have acromegaly or a nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma and are scheduled for surgery
- You need general anesthesia with a breathing tube placed in your windpipe
- You are willing and able to give written consent
- You have not had a tracheostomy or major surgery on your voice box or windpipe before
- Your mouth can open enough for standard laryngoscopy, and your neck is stable
