Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have acromegaly or a nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma and are scheduled for surgery
  • You need general anesthesia with a breathing tube placed in your windpipe
  • You are willing and able to give written consent
  • You have not had a tracheostomy or major surgery on your voice box or windpipe before
  • Your mouth can open enough for standard laryngoscopy, and your neck is stable
