  • Adults age 21 or older
  • Neck and shoulder pain from muscles, not joints or nerves, for at least 3 months
  • Pain is bad enough to affect daily life (score above 5 on a neck disability test)
  • Not taken pain relievers or muscle relaxants in the past month
  • Not had other treatments like injections, physical therapy, or similar for this pain in the past month
