Who can take part

  • You are 60 years or older
  • You are having either: a complex heart surgery (like bypass plus valve repair, multiple valves, redo surgery, or aortic arch surgery) at any age 60+, OR a single bypass or single valve surgery at age 70+
  • You do NOT have symptoms from a stroke or other brain blood vessel disease
  • You have never had delirium (confusion after surgery or illness)
  • You do NOT have dementia or severe memory problems (e.g., unable to answer simple questions)
  • You do NOT have schizophrenia
