Who can take part

  • You are between 3 and 18 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus and a specific type of kidney inflammation called proliferative lupus nephritis (type III or IV, which may also have type V).
  • Your lupus is active, with high protein in your urine (at least 25 mg/kg in a 24-hour test or a urine protein/creatinine ratio of 1.0 mg/mg or higher).
  • Your kidney function is fairly good, with an estimated GFR of 60 mL/min or more.
  • You have not previously received cyclophosphamide or rituximab as an induction treatment.
  • You and your guardian (if you are over 8) agree to the study and sign a consent form.
