Long-term effects of TMS for depression

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with unipolar or bipolar depression that did not improve with other treatments (treatment-resistant), and you have previously responded well to a course of TMS (your depression scores dropped by at least half).
  • You can speak and read French well enough to fill out questionnaires and follow instructions during MRI scans and TMS sessions.
  • You are willing to follow all study procedures, attend appointments for the full study period, and tell the study team about any side effects or health changes.
  • You are not at high risk for suicide, currently experiencing a psychotic episode, or have unstable medical conditions like active cancer, uncontrolled hormone problems, or untreated sleep apnea.
  • You do not have metal in your body that would make an MRI unsafe, or severe claustrophobia.
