Lumacaftor for improved brain blood flow in heart failure

Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older with stable heart failure (NYHA class II-III) and a low ejection fraction (under 40%).
  • You must have low blood flow to the brain (measured as 45 or less on a special scan).
  • You cannot have had a hospital stay for heart failure in the last 3 months.
  • You must not have cystic fibrosis or take certain medications (like antiallergics, antibiotics, or antidepressants).
  • You must be able to have an MRI without sedation and not have a non-MRI compatible device or clip.
