Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 40 years old.
  • You have nearsightedness with astigmatism that has been stable for at least 1 year.
  • Your cornea is healthy and thick enough for SMILE surgery, as checked by your doctor.
  • You can see 20/20 or better with glasses or contacts before surgery.
  • Your astigmatism is at least 0.75 diopters in both eyes, and the difference between eyes is 1.00 diopter or less.
  • You are willing to have SMILE surgery on both eyes on the VISUMAX 800 machine and follow the random assignment of which alignment method is used.
