  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have locked-in syndrome from a subcortical stroke or ALS with severe speech difficulty
  • Your health is stable, including breathing
  • You can read on a screen using eye movements
  • You do not have severe memory or thinking problems
  • You are not on continuous breathing support and have no metal in your body that would prevent an MRI
