Who can take part
- You have AML with less than 5% blasts in bone marrow and no blasts in blood, or you have MDS.
- You must be at least 18 years old and have a Karnofsky score of 50 or higher, meaning you are able to care for most daily needs.
- You are receiving a reduced-intensity stem cell transplant from a haploidentical or mismatched unrelated donor for the first time.
- To be in the treatment group, you must have a specific HLA type (HLA-A*02:01) and a specific genetic marker (HA-2 positive), and your donor must be HLA-A*02-negative.
- You must agree to use effective birth control for at least 12 months after the treatment infusion and to long-term follow-up for up to 15 years.
- You cannot have had a prior stem cell transplant or certain heart conditions, and you must not need dialysis or a breathing machine.
