Who can take part
- You have been newly diagnosed with locally advanced head and neck cancer and have not yet had any treatment for it, such as surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation.
- The cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body (like the lungs or liver).
- You have not had any cancer other than head and neck cancer in the last 5 years, except for minor skin cancers that were fully removed.
- You have not taken immunotherapy (such as PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors) or certain targeted drugs called antibody-drug conjugates before.
- You do not have an active hepatitis B or C infection, or if you have hepatitis B, the virus level is very low and you are willing to take preventive medication.
- You do not have an autoimmune disease that requires ongoing steroids or immune-suppressing drugs, and you are not currently taking high-dose steroids.
