Who can take part

  • You must have a type of head and neck cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that is locally advanced (has spread nearby but not to distant parts of the body).
  • You cannot have had any prior treatment for this cancer, such as chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy.
  • You must not have active hepatitis B or C, HIV, or an autoimmune disease requiring systemic treatment.
  • You must not have had any other cancer in the last 5 years, except for certain skin cancers or fully removed carcinoma in situ.
  • You cannot have serious heart, lung, or other medical conditions that would make the study unsafe.
  • You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and must use effective contraception during and for 3 months after treatment.
