Treatments studied

Part of Brain & nervous system, Cancer, Ear, nose & throat, Genetic & congenital clinical trials.

This trial tests a drug called selumetinib for people with a rare genetic condition called NF2-related schwannomatosis, which causes non-cancerous tumors on nerves. The study focuses on shrinking or slowing the growth of these tumors, especially those affecting hearing, and is for patients who cannot have surgery or choose not to.

Who can take part

  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of NF2 (neurofibromatosis type 2) through genetic testing or specific medical criteria.
  • You need at least one measurable tumor on a nerve near the ear (vestibular schwannoma) that has grown or caused problems in the last 3 years.
  • Your hearing in the ear with the target tumor should be between 50% and 88% on a word recognition test.
  • The tumor must not be a good candidate for surgery, either because it's risky or you've decided against it.
  • You must be at least 3 years old and have adequate organ function (kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, blood counts).
  • You must be able to swallow capsules whole.

Luvometinib and Serplulimab for NF2-related tumors

This trial tests a combination of two drugs (Luvometinib and Serplulimab) for people with NF2 (Neurofibromatosis type 2) who have growing brain tumors (vestibular schwannoma or meningioma) that cannot be safely removed with surgery. The goal is to see if this drug combination can shrink or slow the growth of these tumors.

Gene therapy for neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2)

This trial tests a gene therapy called ST002 for people with NF2-related tumors that cannot be treated with standard therapies or have not responded to them. The treatment is injected directly into a tumor, and the goal is to see if it can shrink or control the tumor.
