Ultrasound for auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia

This study is testing a new type of ultrasound (called low-intensity focused ultrasound) to see if it can help reduce auditory hallucinations in people with schizophrenia. If you are between 18 and 64, have schizophrenia, and hear voices that bother you, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 64 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
  • You have ongoing, troublesome auditory hallucinations (hearing voices or sounds that are not real).
  • You are MRI-safe (no metal implants or devices that would make an MRI unsafe).
  • You do not have a neurological disorder like epilepsy or Parkinson's disease.
  • You have been stable as an outpatient for the past 3 months and on the same medication for at least 4 weeks.
