Who can take part
- You must be an adult (18 years or older).
- You must have septic shock, sepsis without shock, cardiogenic shock, or be a healthy volunteer.
- If you have septic shock, you need a confirmed or suspected infection, low blood pressure despite fluids, and high lactic acid levels.
- If you are a healthy volunteer, you must have no active or chronic diseases, not be on long-term medication, and be a non-smoker.
- You cannot have been in the ICU for more than 48 hours or be enrolled in another overlapping study.
