Who can take part

  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of polycythemia vera (a blood cancer that causes too many red blood cells).
  • You must have tried and failed at least one prior treatment (like hydroxyurea) to lower your red blood cell count.
  • Your spleen must not be enlarged and you should have no symptoms from an enlarged spleen.
  • You must have a bone marrow biopsy showing little or no scarring (fibrosis grade 0 or 1).
  • You must be able to swallow pills and follow instructions for taking a daily medication at home.
