Who can take part
- You are between 10 and 18 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, specifically Lenke type 1A or 5C.
- You are scheduled for spinal fusion surgery using screws in the vertebrae.
- Your surgery will involve fusing only part of the spine (selective fusion), and your surgeon needs help deciding where to stop the fusion.
- You have had full-spine X-rays (standing and bending) before surgery.
- You agree to return for follow-up visits for 24 months after surgery.
- You do not have other causes of scoliosis (like congenital, neuromuscular, or syndromic).
- You have no history of spinal injury, tumor, infection, or prior spinal surgery.
- You do not have severe sagittal imbalance (like Scheuermann disease) or leg length difference over 10 mm.
- You have no neurological symptoms, and your surgeon agrees that both fusion options could be reasonable.
