Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You need surgery to bypass or replace an artery below the kidneys, such as for poor circulation, infection, injury, or a burst artery.
  • If you have poor leg circulation, your symptoms must be severe (Rutherford stage 3–6), your ankle-brachial index (a measure of blood pressure in your ankle) is 0.6 or less, and you have at least one open artery below the knee down to your ankle.
  • You must not have a healthy, full-length great saphenous vein (the main leg vein used for bypass) available for the surgery.
  • You are able to give written consent and attend all follow-up visits.
