  • You are between 50 and 90 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a first-time hip replacement due to arthritis.
  • You are in good enough health for surgery (classified as ASA I-III).
  • Your anesthesia plan includes spinal anesthesia and a nerve block around the hip.
  • You do not have certain heart conditions, severe liver or kidney disease, or take strong pain medications regularly.
