Who can take part
- You must have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis for at least 3 months.
- Your ulcerative colitis must be moderately to severely active, with visible inflammation during a colonoscopy.
- The inflammation must extend beyond the rectum (at least 15 cm inside the colon).
- You must have tried at least one standard treatment (like mesalamine, steroids, or immune pills) and it didn't work well or caused side effects.
- You cannot have had surgery to remove your colon, an ostomy pouch, or a history of cancer in the past 5 years.
- You cannot have taken biologic medicines or certain newer pills for ulcerative colitis, or have active infections like tuberculosis, hepatitis, or HIV.
