- You have had ulcerative colitis for at least 3 months, with signs of active disease (confirmed by a scope exam).
- Your disease extends more than 15 cm up from the rectum.
- If you have had colitis for many years or have a condition called primary sclerosing cholangitis, you must have had a colonoscopy within the last year.
- You have tried standard treatments (like mesalamine, steroids, or immune suppressants) and they did not work well or you couldn't tolerate them.
- You cannot have Crohn's disease, previous colon removal, or an ostomy bag.
- You must not have had certain other treatments (like biologics) within the specified time before the study starts.
