Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to read and understand English.
  • You must have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder (often called clinical depression).
  • Your depression must be considered treatment-resistant, meaning at least two different antidepressants have not worked well enough.
  • Your depression must be at least moderately severe, as measured by a standard questionnaire (score of 10 or higher).
  • You cannot have certain safety risks, such as a history of seizures, stroke, metal in your head, or implanted devices like a pacemaker.
