How ketamine affects mood in people with epilepsy

Who can take part

  • You are staying at Emory's epilepsy monitoring unit for seizure recording with electrodes placed deep in your brain (sEEG).
  • You have at least mild depression symptoms, such as a MADRS score of 7 or higher or a BDI-II score of 14 or higher.
  • Your electrode placement includes areas on the midline of the brain, which is needed for the study measurements.
  • You can understand English, complete questionnaires and tasks at the bedside, and give informed consent.
  • You will remain in the hospital for about 24 hours after the ketamine infusion, unless your medical needs change.
