This study uses a special microscope to look at the tiny blood vessels at the base of your fingernails. It aims to see if these vessels can help doctors understand and monitor pulmonary hypertension, a condition of high blood pressure in the lungs.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with or are being checked for pulmonary hypertension (groups 1, 3, or 4).
  • You are about to start or increase a treatment for pulmonary hypertension, such as a PDE5 inhibitor, ERA, prostanoid, selexipag, riociguat, or sotatercept.
  • You are not already on the maximum treatment for your condition.
  • You can have your nailbed examined (no severe hand injuries or conditions preventing this).
  • You have not had caffeine or nicotine in the last 4 to 6 hours, and no nail polish or extensions on your nails.
