Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are scheduled for a heart procedure (angiography or angioplasty) through an artery in your groin.
- Your procedure involves only one puncture in the groin and uses a certain size of sheath (5, 6, or 7 French).
- You are awake, alert, and able to communicate.
- You must not have allergies to shellfish or to chitosan, not be taking certain medications (antihistamines, sedatives, sleep aids), not have high blood pressure (above 150/100), not have a bleeding disorder or active bleeding, not have severe liver or kidney disease, and not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
