Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) heart bypass surgery that does not use a heart-lung machine.
  • You are able to take tranexamic acid either by mouth or through an IV.
  • You have had routine blood tests (like hemoglobin and kidney function) within the last 30 days.
  • You can attend follow-up visits while in the hospital and at 30 days after surgery.
