Supervised or home exercises for scoliosis in teens

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS)

This study compares two ways of doing scoliosis-specific exercises (Schroth exercises) to see if doing them at home works as well as doing them with a therapist. Teens with mild to moderate scoliosis may improve their posture and spine curve.

Who can take part

  • You are between 10 and 18 years old
  • You have adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, meaning the cause is unknown and it is not from another condition
  • Your spine curve measured by a Cobb angle, is between 10 and 45 degrees
  • You can commit to exercising 5 days a week, either at a clinic or at home
  • You have not had spinal surgery, and are not planning any
  • You have not had a brace in the last 6 months and will not be bracing during the study
  • You have not been doing scoliosis-specific exercises more than 2 days a week in the last 6 months
